Bakuriani – the zone of rest and health.
The Republic of Georgia is famous for it's big range of resorts. The western side of this country is situated on the shore of Black Sea, between Big Caucasus in the north and Minor Caucasus in the south, and in the east side it boards with Azerbaijan.
The capital of Georgia is the historical city of Tbilisi , which is situated in the distance of 550 km. from Baku .
One of the most beautiful places of Georgia is Bakuriani village. The first skiing center in Georgia and whole Soviet Union was founded in Bakuriani. The skiing era in Georgia started approximately at the same time as European alpine resorts like Megeve, Zermatt or Kitzbuehel.
The village Bakuriani, with the population of 3200, is located on the south of Georgia , 160 km. from Tbilisi . The resort is situated in the Minor Caucasus, on the valley north of Trialeti ridge, at the altitude of 1700 m. above the sea level.
Bakuriani village is rich with its flora and fauna. The sights of alpine meadows, icy waters of the springs, always green coniferous woods, high and law Mountains, cold mountain rivers attracts by it's beauty. 90% of the flowers growing on the alpine meadows are medical.
Bakuriani differs by it's mild and dry climate, which is beneficial for the health.
Snowy winter continues for 6 month. It's snows at night, and it's sunny and dry weather during the day.
There are widely developed such kinds of sport as skiing, snowboarding, skating, freestyle and so forth, here.
There is wide and smooth automobile road from Tbilisi to Bakuriani. Small Train, named “Cuckoo”, also offers it's services to the people.
In winter the roads are always get cleaned from the thick layer of snow. During the winter and summer seasons, there are always a lot of tourists here. Different kind of trainings and sport competitions are leaded in Bakuriani.
